This episode features special guest Dan Fine from the Ukrainian War Animals Relief Fund (UWARF) where we discuss how the Power Platform and Dynamics 365 has enabled their efforts. UWARF is a non-profit organization that partners with veterinarians, nonprofits, and animal shelters in Ukraine. They organize missions to the region and facilitate clinics to sterilize, vaccinate, and microchip dogs and cats. They also focus on reuniting, rehoming, and sheltering the abandoned animals.

Dan Fine is currently retired and running a non-profit, Ukraine War Animals Relief Fund. He is one of the early Web veterans and has founded multiple successful businesses. Dan and his wife moved to Vancouver from Seattle in 2017. In Seattle, he founded fine.com, the first company to be named a “dot com” in 1994. Dan guided the company through an IPO in 1997 on NASDAQ to an acquisition by Aris Corporation in 1999. Known as the “Botfather”, he then co-founded Bot, Inc. in 2000 where, as the CEO he received a patent for intelligent software agents with AI and the platform to build and deploy bots securely. Dan started a Microsoft Dynamics practice in the early 2004. About five years ago, Dan sold his practice to Encore and has worked for them until his retirement at the end of 2021. Along the way, Dan received several awards including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and Small Business Person of the Year Award by SBA. He is a past board member of PAWS, Vancouver Humane Society, DogsnHomes and was chairman of the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival. For more than a decade, Dan and his dog, Kal-El are a therapy team visiting senior homes, libraries, schools and the RCMP.
